The Archer City Volunteer Fire Department fought a large grass fire at Calvin Road and Hwy. 79 on Friday, July 29.

Liam Guidry, a fifthgrade student at Holliday Elementary School, was selected to travel to Dallas/ Fort Worth, July 16-22, to participate in the summer 2022 Lone Star Leadership Academy camp. Liam’s selection was based on his academic success, demonstrated leadership ability, involvement in school and community activities.

Ansley Gayge Steed and Cy Gary Belcher were married July 17, 2022, at The Nest in Ponder with Mikey Pesqueda officiating. Parents of the happy couple are Chuck and Paige Steed, of Childress, and Scott and JJ Belcher, of Windthorst.

The Windthorst High School Senior Class of 1968 recently met at the Highlander Public House Restaurant in Wichita Falls for an evening of food and fun on the anniversary of being out of high school for 54 years. Everyone had a good time showing pics of their kids, grandkids, and greatgrandkids, talking about things and adventures still on their bucket lists, and moaning about how much we need a good rain. The descendents of Ida Mae and Tony Hoff gathered in Windthorst for a family reunion June 24-26, 2022. Tony was the 10th child of Josephine and Ernst Hoff, the founding family of Windthorst. The reunion was a birthday celebration for Ida Mae and Tony's children: Bert Hoff, Ernestine Hoff, Pavelka Marth and Claude Hoff and a remembrance for Kathleen Hoff Donovan and Charlotte Hoff Jenkins who have passed away. The oldest family member was 87 and the youngest was 4 months. Family came from Missouri, Kansas, California, Montana and of course Texas. Activities included a slide show, dinner, touring the local mechanized dairy and swimming. Special time was set aside to allow Bert, Ernestine and Claude to tell stories from their youth. Archer City and Olney Volunteer Fire Departments extinguished a pickup truck fire on Hwy. 79 south of Archer City on Wednesday, July 27.

Isabelle Parkey has had a busy summer of leadership roles in both 4-H and her Junior Brangus Associations. In addition to attending 4-H Congress in Austin, Parkey was accepted into the Livestock Ambassador Program through 4-H.
