The Sheriff’s Office received 64 calls for service last week. As this report is being written there were 25 inmates with three being female in the Archer County Jail.

Archer City senior Delaini Hanna won reserve grand champion at the Houston Stock show with her two-year-old dorper. Delaini suffered a major knee injury in the Lady Cats’ Volleyball team’s bi-district win over Alvord in November.

Discussion on a checking account, which will be received due to the municipal judge not returning, took place during the Windthorst city council meeting on Wednesday, March 17. “We did have a checking account when we had our city judge,” City Secretary Debbie Schroeder said.

Archer City, Holliday and Windthorst High Schools competed in the UIL One-Act Play district competitions on Wednesday, March 3, with multiple individuals and plays picking up awards. Archer City high school performed “Radium Girls” and was named the first place show in the district and will advance to the bi-district competition on Thursday, March 25, in Graham.

The following Windthorst students showed a truck design cooker, decorative swing, folding picnic table and bench, panels, decorative table with four chairs and two shop tables at San Angelo. They came home with a class winner, a division winner, reserve grand overall, first in showmanship and six blue ribbons and one red at San Angelo. City council meetings are not usually held in a park, but Scotland Mayor Ron Hoff convened the Scotland City Council in the City Park Monday, March 9, to discuss, measure and plan. Construction of bathroom facilities is the next thing on the list, so determining the best possible location called for councilors to spend some time in the park to work out some of the details.

Windthorst ISD senior Andrew Scheffe was named division winner in towable cooking equipment over eight foot and overall reserve grand champion at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on Sunday, Feb. 28.

The Holliday ISD School Board elected to maintain the same practices established as of Sept. 29 with regards to mask requirements at the scheduled meeting on Monday, March 9. The decision counters Gov. Greg Abbotts lifting of GA-29 last week.
