Years ago, I was cowboying for a ranch in Saint Jo Texas. One of the other hands was a farrier. Me being interested in shoeing horse’s he started teaching me the trade. After several months he decided to move on to other things and left me most of his work that he had. I began to get more work than I could do so I went to horseshoeing full time.

Our main vision for the Archer County Museum & Arts Center is to showcase the difference Archer County has had in history and in personal lives as well as to inspire creative minds! To do this we will have a separate building that will safely store artifacts and have a space to hold exhibits and artist workshops. The museum will have a limited amount of permanent exhibition space and an exhibit space that will hold rotating and traveling exhibits.

The Sheriff’s Office received 129 calls for service this past week. As this report is being written there are 29 inmates and seven being female in the Archer County Jail.

Wolf Insurance Agency has announced they will award TWO $250.00 Education Scholarships to 2022 Graduating High School Seniors at the annual meeting of Germania Farm Mutual Insurance Association Local Chapter # 143. The meeting will be held on Sunday evening, April 3, 2022 at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Windthorst. Rita Joann “ Rita Jo” Williams Allen, age 84, of Archer City, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 5, 2022, at her residence. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Carroll Laverne Hill was born Jan. 16, 1935 to Loyd and Mildred Geist in Alva, Okla.

Patsy Lee Raynes Shawver Siegfried, 77, of Holliday, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 until 7 p.m.
