The 4-H District 3 Archer County Contest was held in Archer City at the Archer County Shooting Sports Club on Saturday, May 18. In total 123 members from the district competed.

Archer City FFA hosts banquet

St. Mary’s Church in Windthorst is celebrating its 132nd Birthday with a celebration the weekend of June 2, 2024.

The public is cordially invited to attend the Memorial Day ceremonies hosted by the Scotland-Windthorst Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2676 and Auxiliary and Gary Johnston Post 198 of the American Legion, Monday, May 27, 2024.

The Holliday ISD UIL Academic Team placed third in the 3A state meet competition. The Holliday team finished third with 88 points behind Gladewater Sabine who finished with 134.33 points and Mission Collegiate who finished with 108.5 points.

The Archer City Pool will open for the summer on Saturday, May 25, from 1 to 6 p.m. Splash day will take place that day and admission will be free to the public.

The Sheriff’s Office received 231 calls for service this week. As this report is being written there are 24 inmates 7 being female in the Archer County Jail.

Three guys were shipwrecked on a deserted island. They have been there for quite a while. One day, a magic lamp washes up on the shore and they find it. One of them begins to rub the lamp and sure enough, out pops a genie. The genie says that he will grant each one of them one wish. The first guy says, “I’ve missed my wife’s cooking. I wish I could be back at home ready to eat one of her great meals. The genie waves his hands and poof, the man is sitting at the table in his house ready to eat dinner. The second man says, “I’ve never been married but I really miss my girlfriend. I wish I was on my way to her house to pick her up for a date.” The genie waves his hands and poof! The second man is driving in his car on the way to pick up his girlfriend for a date. The third man says, “I'm really glad these guys got what they wanted but I sure do miss them. I wish they were back here with me again.” Poof!! Imagine that you can have anything that you want. Literally, anything that you can think of, to ask for, is yours. Be it material or spiritual.
