John Watson “A good man is always learning,” is an old Latin Proverb. Sages and thinkers since the days of the first schools thousands of years ago have recognized the importance of education in shaping and informing the minds of students from their earliest lessons and throughout their lives.

Social media is where a person can express their true thoughts, opinion, and share life experience. This past week one person on one of our local gardening pages stated the obvious fact their tomatoes were flowering, looked OK, but not setting fruit. “What should I be doing?” The immediate popular response was, “My my Granny used to give them a vigorous shake, hit them with the broom, flyswatter, or stick, etc.” While this physical abuse was quickly noticed by young grandchildren, what was not noticed was when she was doing this and why.

The Archer Public Library’s Summer Reading Program 2022 is here! The library kicked off its reading contest on June 1st and is accepting entries through July 31st, for a chance to win a Kindle E-Reader loaded with free eBooks! 1 hour read = 1 entry into the contest.

The Sheriff’s Office received 198 calls for service this past week. As this report is being written there are 29 inmates and 2 being female in the Archer County Jail.

The Wind Trojanettes won the Class A State Volleyball Championship in Austin last weekend with straight victories over Fruitvale and Tilden McMullen County. “This team was the most focused group that I have ever coached,” stated Diane Conrady.
