The Sheriff’s Office received 193 calls for service this past week. As this report is being written there are 22 inmates 5 being female in the Archer County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office received 421 calls for service this past two weeks. As this report is being written there are 22 inmates 6 being female in the Archer County Jail.

Memorial Day; There is a plaque in my office that reads “Home of the free, because of the brave.” I think that describes it pretty well. Those of us who have never been there have no idea of the deep fear and horror that comes with war. These souls are forever scarred but they also are witness to acts of heroism, bravery, sacrifice. These deeds would inspire others to become heroes themselves. The finest and fiercest in battle whether it be bombs or bayonets.

Three guys were shipwrecked on a deserted island. They have been there for quite a while. One day, a magic lamp washes up on the shore and they find it. One of them begins to rub the lamp and sure enough, out pops a genie. The genie says that he will grant each one of them one wish. The first guy says, “I’ve missed my wife’s cooking. I wish I could be back at home ready to eat one of her great meals. The genie waves his hands and poof, the man is sitting at the table in his house ready to eat dinner. The second man says, “I’ve never been married but I really miss my girlfriend. I wish I was on my way to her house to pick her up for a date.” The genie waves his hands and poof! The second man is driving in his car on the way to pick up his girlfriend for a date. The third man says, “I'm really glad these guys got what they wanted but I sure do miss them. I wish they were back here with me again.” Poof!! Imagine that you can have anything that you want. Literally, anything that you can think of, to ask for, is yours. Be it material or spiritual. You want riches, ask for it. Do you want a long and healthy life? All you have to do is ask. You want a new and better job, go ahead and ask away.
