The Windthorst Trojans travelled to Perrin, Texas to take on the Class 1A fifth ranked Perrin-Whitt Pirates on Thursday, Jan 4. Despite some back and forth early in the contest, the Pirates put up an insurmountable lead, defeating the Trojans 78-48.

City of Holliday approves f inancial audit for 22-23

Without the presence of Mayor Allen Moore, who was missing due to illness, the Holliday City Council approved the 2022-2023 annual fiscal audit from Edgin, Parkman, and Fleming & Fleming, P.C.-Paul Fleming. At the end of 2023, the General Fund balance was at $1.1 million and $142,000 left in the COVID-19 fund as of Sept. 30.

Archer City continues search for City Manager

The city of Archer City is back to square one in its search for a new city manager after its top candidate rejected an offer from the city. According to city secretary Kim Whitsitt, the city council made an offer to its top candidate, but the two sides were too far apart on salary compensation.

The Archer County Republican and Democrat parties recently held a ballot draw to determine the order of which candidates will appear on the ballot in the March primaries. Republican: In local races, Jordyn Berend will appear first in the county attorney race followed by Dan Branum and Judy Rosenberger.

The Archer City Lady Cats participated in the second annual Electra Grand Basketball Tournament on Thursday Dec. 28 and Friday Dec. 29, dominating the competition all the way to the championship round, where they lost a close matchup to the Electra Lady Tigers.

Trojanettes go 3-1 in tournament

The Windthorst Trojanettes hosted a variety of basketball teams from around the area for their tournament on Thursday Dec. 28 and Friday Dec. 29. The Trojanettes played sound basketball, finishing with a 3-1 record and having two players on the all-tournament team.
