Holliday Moves Money into Investing Program

In a short meeting the Holliday City Council tackled a couple of items during its council meeting on Monday, June 15. The council voted to move its nearly $1 million emergency fund into a smart investing program with Investar Bank, formerly known as First National Bank.

Archer County Sees Higher Sales Tax Revenue

Nearly every Archer County city saw an increase in sales tax revenue in May than they did in May of 2025. Five of the seven cities in the county saw an increase in their sales tax revenue in 2026 from 2025.

Football Schedules Set for Archer County

On the same day that the UIL released their biennial reclassifications and district realignments on Monday, Feb. 2, the football schedules for Archer City, Holliday, and Windthorst were all also confirmed and set for the next two seasons.

Three County Students Named McKnight Scholars

Isabelle Parkey of Archer City; Kreede Neal of Holliday, and Sam Gilmore, of Archer City, have been selected for Class XVI of the McKnight Scholars Leadership Program at Oklahoma State University. This distinguished program recognizes high-achieving out-of-state students who exemplify leadership, academic excellence and a strong commitment to serving others.

Ruby McCaskill Memorial Softball Tournament

It was another successful year for the Ruby Mc-Caskill Memorial Softball Tournament. According to long-time event organizer Jeffrey Blassingame Jr., the annual softball tournament raised over $2000, which is the third-straight year the fundraisers reached that mark. It also brings the grand total to over $18,000 since the tournament’s inception.
