Murder trial starts under tight security

Monday, Nov. 29, at 9 a.m. with the courthouse under tight security, the Bailiff in the 97th District Court called potential jurors into the courtroom one by one. They were standing in the foyer, on the stairs and in the hall outside the courtroom on the second floor of the Archer County Courthouse. Each of the sixty-five potential jurors was instructed to sit in an assigned seat.
Trojans hold off Wildcats in thriller, 42-40

In a matchup that will be talked about for years to come, Windthorst held on for a 42-40 win over Archer City in an all-Archer County Area showdown. The Wildcats (8-3) left it all on the field while the Trojans (11-1) move on to the regional semifinals where they’ll meet Santo (11-1) on Friday, Nov.

All-District volleyball honors announced

After a banner year by Archer County schools on the volleyball courts, district honors were announced for Archer City, Holliday and Windthorst. The Lady Cats (32-12) went unbeaten through District 9-2A and advanced to the regional semifinals.
Holliday escapes Leonard, 35-28

Holliday’s defense grounded DJ Brown and the high-powered Leonard offense in the second half, holding the Tigers to just 92 yards and kept the offense out of the endzone after the break in a 35-28 thriller.
