A caravan of over 50 bicycle riders, a Pasadena Police Department car, a La Porte Police Department car, a medical trailer, and a couple of bike mechanics came through downtown Archer City last Thursday, Sept. 9 on the way to Archer City Community Center for a meal and night’s rest.
Five Archer County nonprofit organizations participated in the 24-county area fundraising program Texoma Gives, which kicked off at 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, and raised a combined $9,190 in the event.
Second-ranked Windthorst rolled up nearly 500 yards of total offense in a 49-0 rout of De Leon on the road on Friday, Sept. 3. The Trojans (2-0) host Archer City (1-0) in their home opener on Friday, Sept. 10.
The Holliday Lady Eagles (21-5) made quick work of its cross-county rivals, dispatching the Archer City Lady Cats (15-9) in three sets, 25-15, 25-14, 25-12, on Tuesday, Aug. 31, in Holliday.
The Windthorst Trojanettes (15-9) went on the road and picked up a pair of wins against Class 3A competition last week. Windthorst topped Henrietta in four (25-21, 25-16, 25-27, 25-22) on Tuesday, Aug. 31, and City View in three (25-15, 25-12, 25-22) on Saturday, Sept. 4.
