Eagle Band makes UIL State contest for 30th consecutive year

For as dominant as Holliday athletics has been over the last three decades, the Eagle Band’s tradition of excellence tops them all. Holliday advanced to the bi-annual state marching contest for the 16th straight time, spanning back to 1993, and is the longest active streak among Class 3A participants.

Brody Frazier plaThe Frank and Margaret Schroeder Family Reunion was held on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023 at the KC Hall in Windthorst. There were approximately 185 in attendance, including 5 of the 6 surviving children, (LR) Mary Sternadel, Trudy Veitenheimer and Agnes Pechacek, all of Wichita Falls, Hans Schroeder of Windthorst, and Margie Hoffman of Wichita Falls; and 37 of the 56 grandchildren.
WISD releases statement on Coleman funeral

Windthorst ISD released an apology to the Coleman family following the administration’s decision to not host student Kaybree Coleman’s funeral at the high school gym. Windthorst ISDresident Kayla Anderle was among the many who were disappointed by Windthorst ISD’s decision to not host the funeral.

After the great loss to the Holliday Assembly of God congregation and an unbelievable loss to his wife, Theresa, the loss to the community of Holliday where he served for more than 10 years, Rev Mike Wells is greatly missed by all who knew him. His widow, attends and gives faithful service to the church and carries on the dream-The dream to feed the poor and hungry. As I heard it, somewhere around 2010 pastor Mike began to do what he could do to bring that dream to pass and distributed food from the small Holliday Assembly of God church kitchen.
County approves refurbishing the old Archer County Jail on square

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved refurbishing the old jail on the east side of the square as an emergency management center during its meeting on Monday, Oct. 23.
