Parkey receives Texas Cattlewomen's Lifetime Achievement Award

Ann Parkey, of Holliday, was presented with the Texas Cattlewomen’s Lifetime Achievement Award during their spring convention in Fort Worth on March 26. The Texas Cattlewomen are a certified producer organization by the United States Department of Agriculture that work for the betterment of the beef industry and serve as a clearinghouse of information concerning it.

Morris to depart from Holliday City Council

Holliday Councilwoman Sandra Morris announced her plans to step down from city council due to moving outside of city limits at the council meeting Monday April 12. Morris was elected as place 2 councilwoman in 2020 beating out challengers Randy Molina and Sharon Long in a tight race.

County delcares child abuse awareness month

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court declared April as Child Abuse Awareness Month during its meeting Monday, April 11. Sheriff Jack Curd said the biggest surprise he has had since becoming sheriff is the alarming frequency of crimes against children that occur in the county.

Rees takes over as Archer County News' Creative Director

The Archer County News welcomed new Creative Director Grace Rees at the start of February as she helped transition out and replace outgoing director Jenny Schroeder. Rees is a Wichita Falls native who attended Notre Dame Catholic School before finishing high school in Iowa Park.
