Transfigured

Body
This week we finish the Christian season of Epiphany with the transfiguration of Christ and move into the Christian Season of Lent (Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. The forty days represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan and preparing to begin his ministry.). However, before we move quickly into lent, I want to talk about the Transfiguration of Jesus and how we should understand our own transfiguration. Luke 9:28-29, 35 (NRSV) 28 Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus[a] took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. 35 Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!”
