FSA now accepting nominations for county committee members

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) began accepting nominations for county committee members on June 15. Elections will occur in certain Local Administrative Areas (LAA) for these members who make important decisions about how federal farm programs are administered locally. All nomination forms for the 2021 election must be postmarked or received in the local FSA office by Aug. 2.

Lawson named new publisher of Archer County News

After joining the Archer County News in June of 2020, Nathan Lawson has risen to the publisher position with Jerry Phillips choosing to move into a reduced role with the paper. Phillips is one step closer to his long dreamed of retirement, although he will still be heavily involved in the Archer County community and continue to serve the paper as community interests reporter.

Archer County's Loran named Miss Rodeo Texas

Archer County resident Bobbi Loran was named Miss Rodeo Texas in San Antonio over the weekend of June 23 through 25. Loran grew up in Scotland and attended Archer City ISD from which she graduated from in 2017.

Hash to lead Archer City FFA program

An Archer City graduate is returning home to lead the ACISD FFA and agriculture program as Tanner Hash was recently named the district’s new agriculture teacher. Hash attended Archer City ISD from kindergarten through his graduation in 2014.

County sets speed limit for Three-Way Road

Body
The Archer County Commissioners Court voted to set a speed limit of 45 mph for Three Way Road but elected not to close the road off to through truck traffic during its meeting Monday, June 24. The county commissioners originally discussed the idea of closing off the popular county shortcut, which connects FM 1954 and FM 2244.

Archer County Sheriff’s Weekly Report

The Sheriff’s Office received 85 calls for service last week. As this report is being written there were 27 inmates with four being female in the Archer County Jail. Ten arrests were made this week involving 6 felonies and 8 misdemeanors.
