County purchases new camera system for jail

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court awarded a bid for a new camera and control system for the jail to Sustainable Security Solutions during its meeting Monday, May 24. The county had received two bids during its previous meeting with one from Sustainable Security Solutions for $297,451 and another from Cornerstone Control Systems for $545,561.

County summer reading programs set to begin

The Archer City Public Library and Holliday Public Library are preparing to start up their Summer Reading Programs in the next couple of weeks as the seek to promote literacy and continued education among the county youth.

The excitement of elections is over and Holliday City Council places three and five were sworn in on Monday, May 10. Councilman place five, Don Wadsworth said he ran again because he felt he had done a pretty good job so far and did not know if anyone else would run.

MSU Texas COVID-19 Clinics

MSU Texas is pleased to announce a continued partnership with the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Texas Military Department (TMD) to host COVID-19 vaccine clinics that each Thursday throughout May as supply is available. Each vaccine clinic will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sikes Lake Center, located on the MSU Texas south campus just off of Midwestern Parkway.

Archer County Sheriff’s Weekly Report

The Sheriff’s Office received 87 calls for service last week. As this report is being written there were 31 inmates with five being female in the Archer County Jail. 11 arrests were made this week five being felonies and six misdemeanors.
