Fear God and do what he tells

Body
Ecclesiastes 12:13 says: “Now all has been heard, here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.” If you were to read those words at the end of a book, you might say, “Well, here it is. Here’s the conclusion of the book.” The Apostle John, near the end of his gospel says, “these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in his name.” I know that the reason John wrote the Gospel of John is so that I would believe Jesus to be the Son of God, and that I might come to have life because of it. That’s his agenda. No surprises. When I go back and read John, sure enough, he’s working at giving me good reasons to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. It helps to have a book that just flat-out tells me why it exists.
