Superintendent Cody Carroll presented a state of the district report during the Holliday ISD school board meeting on Monday, Feb. 10.

James Romero of Windthorst, a member of Windthorst FFA, caught a calf during the 2025 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s Calf Scramble, earning a $500 purchase certificate for a show heifer and the chance for up to $16,000 in scholarship awards. Romero is the son of Michael and Janel Romero. His award was sponsored by Manhard Consulting.

Gary L. Rucker, age 80, of Hereford, Texas, formerly of Archer City, passed away Sunday, Jan.

For their last regular season game of the year, the Windthorst Trojanettes went on the road and flattened the Electra Lady Tigers 64-39. After the Trojanettes managed the Lady Tigers, the Trojans dismantled the Tigers with a 20-point win.

I have great memories of trips that our family has taken to the Gila National Forest in New Mexico. One of the things I enjoyed the most was taking four wheelers through the paths of the mountains to some amazing views. It just has a way of bringing some peace in a world that never slows down. There are miles of paths that are open but there is one condition that everyone follows and that is opening and closing the gates as you go. You are free to choose your path, and which gates you want to go through.

The Lakeside City council heard a bid proposal on three new solar lights for the basketball courts at the West Side Park and Patsy’s Park during its council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Windthorst ISD was presented with a check of $4,380 to go towards the Kaybree Coleman Scholarship fund on Friday, Jan. 31.
