Tempers flared in the Lakeside City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 18. A shouting match between Mayor Pro Tem Colby Kafer and future council member Larry Sturges concluded with early departures from the meeting for both parties.

The Archer City ISD school board approved the 2025-2026 school calendar which will usher in half school days on Fridays during its board meeting on Monday, March 24. The school district did half school day Fridays as a trial run in the fall on Fridays which were away football games.

Recently, I have been working my way through what is considered to be Jesus’ greatest sermon ever preached - The Sermon on the Mount. Augustine called it a ‘perfect standard of the Christian life.’ It is an amazing read, and I would encourage you to take a few minutes to look through all of Matthew chapters 5 through 7. I felt compelled to share a portion of it with you today.

The Holliday City Council were apprised of the issues of getting a new ladder for the playground equipment at the city park during its council meeting on Monday, March 17. Holliday Parks and Rec Committee member Hayden Hansen provided the update to council.

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved the hiring of Kortney Kulhanek as the new Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent during its meeting on Monday, March 10. Kulhanek will be replacing the departed Paige McSpadden as the county’s new Ag and Natural Resources agent.

Both the Holliday Lady Eagles and Eagles, along with some of the Windthorst Trojanettes travelled to Graham to compete in the Possum Kingdom Relays on Saturday, March 15. Holliday flourished in the meet, grabbing several top six finishes including gold medals from senior Breagan Blowers, junior Kenli Atwood, and sophomores Brayden Hamill and RC Albert.
