Early voting for the May 4 general election for municipalities starts Monday as the cities of Archer City and Holliday will have to elect a new mayor. Holliday will also weigh in on a contested city council race.

County approves inmate services contract

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved a renewal of a contract with City Tele-Coin Company for inmate phone and commissary services during its meeting on Monday, April 9. Sheriff Jack Curd said the contract is very similar to the one set to expire except the county will receive a larger percentage of revenue from the service.

WISD school board discusses compensation schedule

The Windthorst ISD school board discussed the staff pay schedule during its board meeting on Monday, April 8. Superintendent Jason Nolan said the pay schedule needs to be updated regularly or eventually the raises the district gives will go off of the pay scale.

Archer County 4-H member Sadie Hoskins placed 4th in the District 3 4-H Fashion Storyboard Contest. As images are created and submitted virtually, the awards were presented at the District Fashion Show this past weekend.
