The Archer City Lady Cats bounced back from their matchup against Nocona with a 3-0 program sweep over the Olney Lady Cubs on Saturday, Oct. 19. The young Lady Cats pounced on Olney in the first two sets, winning 2512 in both before finally notching the sweep with a 25-23 win in set three.
The Windthorst Trojanettes took a break from district opponents and travelled to Wichita Falls to take on the Class 5A Legacy Lady Leopards on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The two teams traded set victories before the Trojanettes carved out a 15-6 fifth-set win.
The Archer City Lady Cats had a rough outing on Tuesday, Oct. 15, losing 3-0 to the tough Nocona Lady Indians (25-8, 25-14, and 25-12) to drop to 2-3 in district on the year.

Both the Holliday Eagles and Lady Eagles took home the Region 1 Cross Country crowns on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock. The Lady Eagles repeated as champions beating their score of last year, 44, by 13 points. The Eagles also snatched the gold medal, overcoming last year’s score by over 30 points.
It was a quick and painless 3-0 sweep for the Holliday Lady Eagles on Tuesday, Oct. 15, beating the Iowa Park Lady Hawks 2515, 25-15, and finally 25-17. This marks Holliday’s third program sweep in district play this season.
It’s been a long time since the Archer City Wildcats have bested the Windthorst Trojans on the gridiron, with the Black and Gold’s last victory coming from 2008-2009 season when they secured the 34-7 win at home. Now, on Friday, Oct.11, 16 years later almost to the day, the Trojans and Wildcats met for what could decide the 2A-2 District 6 championship.
