The Holiday Eagles are state champions once again. After their thrilling 3A Boys state championship appearance last year, the Eagles kept the crown with another heart-pounding 4x400 relay finish at Mike A.

2A-D9 Baseball, Softball District Honors

Archer County finished up one it’s better softball and baseball seasons this year. For the second season in a row, Archer City’s softball and baseball teams, as well as Windthorst’s softball and baseball teams advanced to the Class 2A playoffs. Two of those teams even made it to the second round.
Windthorst’s Conner Schreiber was named District 9-2A MVP for a third straight season after he finished district with a .581 batting average and a 0.00 ERA.

Lady Eagles Unable to Unseat State Champions

106. That was the combined runs scored in the three-game Regional Semifinals series between the Holliday Lady Eagles and the Coahoma Bulldogettes on Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9. In addition to the runs, the two monster offenses combined for nearly 100 hits while pitchers across both teams totaled over 800 pitches thrown.

County To Be Well Represented at State Track

For the last five track season, the Holliday Lady Eagles have owned the 3A-Region I meet. On Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at Elmer Gray Stadium in Abilene, they maintained the status quo by winning the meet with a score of 92, 25 points ahead of second-place Wall (67).

Lady Eagles Make Statement Win Over Merkel

The Holliday Lady Eagles won their Area round battle with Merkel by a combined 22-2 in the twogame series on Wednesday, April 29 in Graford. In addition to the stellar sweep, the Lady Eagles also broke a five-year Area-round losing streak.

Wildcats Unable to Claw Past Indians

The Archer City Wildcats’ baseball season came to a close on Wednesday, April 29 in City View in the their Bi-District round matchup against the Nocona Indians. The Wildcats and the Indians were entrenched in a true Pitcher’s Duel for Game 1.
