The Windthorst Trojanettes were unstoppable in their Bi-District round matchup against the Stamford Lady Bulldogs on Monday, Feb. 12, scorching their opponents for the entire four quarters.

With over 2,100 points in his career, Holliday’s Keitenn Bristow has hit some big shots in his lifetime. None were bigger than his step back 3-pointer with 12.7 seconds remaining to give the Eagles their first lead of the night and propel Holliday to its first district championship since 2019.

The Windthorst Trojans (4-4) battled the Archer City Wildcats (3-5) in a home matchup on Friday, Feb. 9. The Wildcats were aiming to cement their fourth-place spot with a victory, while the Trojans looked to lock-in their third-place spot with a win of their own. The last time these two rivals faced off, the game was close and intense for the entire four quarters, with Windthorst barely edging out Archer City to the tune of a 59-52 victory in the Wildcat’s den. This time, Archer City planned to return the favor.

The Windthorst Trojanettes had their final district showdown at home on Tuesday, Feb. 6. Their opponents, the Seymour Lady Panthers (6-3), were looking to split the series at 1-1 and tie the Trojanettes (7-2) in the final district game, while a win for the Big Blue meant a trip to the Class 2A playoffs as a second seed for the third season in a row.

Holliday erased an eight point deficit in the final four minutes to stun City View in a 45-40 thriller to lock up a share of the District 7-3A crown for the second straight season. “We felt really jaded at the beginning of the year,” Holliday head coach Derek Winn said.

Last Thursday morning in Austin at the Frank Erwin Center, the Archer City Lady Cats won the Class A Division 1 State Championship as Seniors Brittni Burks and Magan Moore took charge in the 4th quarter. Burks, the anchor in the paint, converted 16 free throw attempts into 12 points and was high scorer with 18 points. Moore, named the game’s MVP, had 16, with 10 coming at crunch time in the final stanza. Both seniors were named to the 2004 UIL Girls All-Tournament Team for Class A.

The Windthorst Trojanettes travelled to Nocona to face the top-ranked Lady Indians in district play on Friday, Feb. 2. The 7-1 Trojanettes looked to avenge their only district defeat that came at the hands of the undefeated Lady Indians just a few weeks prior, while Nocona looked to further distance themselves from the rest of the competition in district.
