Travelers on U.S. 281 just north of Windthorst will find on the east side of the highway a mural at Carcano’s Fine Meats. The mural is a creation by local artist Brea’n Thompson depicting all things Texas. Thompson said, “The Carcanos love it and the community loves it. It was a good, fun project.”
New LED lighting goes up at the Scotland Park baseball field. Clay Jackson of Double E Electric is handling the 48 light, 6 pole installation. The original lights on the field decades ago were installed by Jackson’s father, Lane Jackson.

The Archer County Commissioners Court approved expenses associated with the cost of having jury trials for the murder of John Lewis Helms during its meeting Monday, July 26. Renea Ayala, Charles Ray Hunter and Lee Alfredo Villapando were each charged with murder for their role in the April 19, 2020, death of Helms.
