Grace Community Church Pastor Jon Curry announced the church has withdrawn its request for a zoning variance to allow for a parking lot at 301 S. Ash Street during an Archer City council meeting on Thursday, March 21.

The Archer City ISD school board officially hired Hico Superintendent Jon Hartgraves as the district’s next superintendent during its board meeting Tuesday, March 26. Hartgraves has served as superintendent of Hico ISD since 2012 and served as superintendent of Gordon ISD before that.

A $6,000 scholarship was recently awarded to Isabelle Parkey of Archer City FFA by the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s Calf Scramble Scholarship Committee. She is the daughter of Vanessa and David Parkey.

The Lakeside City Council received an update on its FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Project for a generator during its meeting on Tuesday, March 19. Texas Department of Emergency Management’s Lance Liggett was on hand to explain where the city sat in the process.

The Windthorst ISD school board approved adding more funds to its committed fund balance during its meeting on Monday, March 18. During the previous school board meeting, the board had approved upping the district’s committed fund balance to show $2,540,000 set aside for facility improvements, $220,000 for equipment, $150,000 for a bus, $100,000 for school safety and $30,000 for fine arts equipment.

The Windthorst Trojanette softball team are experiencing a youth movement for the 23-24 season, featuring just five returning players from the previous year, four of those returners being sophomores, and just one senior. Senior Bri Hoff is that lone upperclassman among the sea of sophomores and freshmen.
