County purchases lawnmower

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved purchasing a new lawnmower for the inmate work crew during its meeting on Monday, March 11. Sheriff Jack Curd made the request for a new lawnmower to the court.

Unofficial results from the March 5 primaries show the Republican candidates for the November election and that the County Commissioner Pct. 3 race is headed for a runoff on May 28.

In the county attorney race, Jordyn Berend received 1,440 votes (66.76%) to fend off Judy Rosenberger, who received 563 votes (26.10%), and Dan Branum, who received 154 votes (7.14%) to secure the Republican nomination. Conner Deen has already announced his intentions to run as an independent against Berend for the position in November.

Sosebee newest AC officer on duty

Archer City Police Department has a second full-time officer for the first time in nearly half a year as Joshua Sosebee started in the position last month. Sosebee fills the position that was left vacant when Matt England left for another job in September of 2023.

Wylie to retire from Archer County Auditor

Archer County Auditor Paul Wylie is set to retire from the position by the end of his term in June. The county auditor is responsible for working closely with the county treasurer to keep an eye on the county’s money.

The Holliday Education Foundation, or HEF, was established to provide funding opportunities such as educational projects, grants for teachers, and scholarship opportunities to students of the Holliday ISD. To launch the new 501c3 organization, HEF initiated a Founding Legacy Donors Campaign.
