The Archer City ISD school board named Hico Superintendent Jon Hartgraves the lone finalist for its superintendent position during a special meeting on Tuesday, March 5. Hartgraves has served as superintendent of Hico ISD since 2012 and served as superintendent of Gordon ISD before that.

Unofficial results from the March 5 primaries show the Republican candidates for the November election and that the County Commissioner Pct. 3 race is headed for a runoff on May 28.

Archer City Police Department has a second full-time officer for the first time in nearly half a year as Joshua Sosebee started in the position last month. Sosebee fills the position that was left vacant when Matt England left for another job in September of 2023.

Archer County Auditor Paul Wylie is set to retire from the position by the end of his term in June. The county auditor is responsible for working closely with the county treasurer to keep an eye on the county’s money.
