The Sheriff’s Office received 110 Calls for Service during the past seven day period ending Sunday, Aug. 30. On the day of this report there were 30 individuals incarcerated in the Archer County Jail consisting of 27 men and three women.

Around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning, a Megargel resident reported that a female came to her door posing as a Census Taker. The woman said she had the woman on video camera. A Deputy spoke with the caller and followed up on the suspicious woman. It was verified that the woman was indeed a Census Taker and no further action was taken.

Trojans dominate defensively in opener against Bearcats

The Windthorst Trojans opened their 2020 campaign with a 27-6 victory over the Henrietta Bearcats. Senior Ethan Belcher scored three touchdowns while rushing for 110 yards. He also led the defensive charge with six tackles as the Trojans held the Bearcats to negative rushing yards.

Lady Cats suffer second setback

As it turns out, the Archer City Lady Cats are only human. After a perfect 4-0 start without dropping a set, the Lady Cats (4-2) dropped a pair of matches last week, falling to Jacksboro on the road in five sets (25-19, 22-25, 20-25, 25-15, 8-15) on Tuesday, Aug. 25, and at home to Henrietta in a 3-0 sweep (17-25, 22-25, 21-25) on Friday, Aug. 28, .

Trojanettes slide continues

The Windthorst Trojanettes dropped their sixth and seventh-consecutive matches last week, falling in three to Nocona (13-25, 15-25, 15-25) on Tues., Aug. 25, and in a four-set thriller to Jacksboro (19-25, 20-25, 25-22, 23-25) on Friday, Aug. 28. Windthorst slips to 1-9 on the season.
