What a tremendous year for Archer County on the volleyball hardwood. From Windthorst making it back to the state tournament for the 24th time in program history to Holliday capturing its fourth-straight district title to Archer City continuing its playoff streak, 2023 was another banner year.

The home crowd buzzed in anticipation for the return of Trojanette basketball. The Trojanettes defense swarmed the Lady Hawks for a majority of the first half. Senior Annikah Frank initiated the scoring for the Trojanette offense after stealing an errant pass and draining a deep three-pointer near the beginning of the quarter. After a made free-throw by junior Megg Lindley, senior Cameron Belcher joined in on the thievery, jumping the passing lane and darting down the court for an easy breakaway layup.
The Windthorst Trojans and Trojanettes competed at the Mesquite Pit Classic in Poolville over the weekend. The Trojanettes placed third in the tournamnet while the Trojans posted a 1-4 record.
Holliday just keeps winning. After a dominant run through the Haskell tournament a week ago, the Eagles continued their strong play with a tournament championship in Childress, knocking off several quality Region I teams along the way.
The Holliday Lady Eagles finished third at Nocona’s Tres Ninos Shootout following a 3-3 week. Despite the .500 mark, Holliday (8-5) went toe-to-toe with some of the best Class 2A programs in the state.
Holliday (5-2) ran roughshod through the Haskell Tournament this past weekend en route to a 5-0 mark on the week. The Eagles never trailed after the midway point in the opening quarter in any of its four tournament games to win the championship.
Windthorst 59 Valley View 32 The Dragon Classic started off with a bang for the Windthorst Trojans, beating the Valley View Eagles 59 to 32. Sophomore Jaxon Stark shined offensively, scoring 23 points, with two three-pointers on the night.
