Archer City approves insurance increase

The Archer City Council approved renewing health, dental, vision and life insurance with the TML Health Benefits Pool during its council meeting on Thursday, June 27. City Secretary Kim Whitsitt told the council that the city currently pays 100% of its employee’s insurance plan.

Peace of Mind workshop to be held on July 9

The Archer County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office is hosting a peace of mind planning workshop on Tuesday, July 9. Extension Agent Maranda Revell said the event was taken from other county extension offices after financial planning was recommended during the organizations Texas Communities Futures Forum in April.

The 23-24 softball season marked another successful year for the three Archer County high schools. Windthorst continued their playoff appearance streak, Holliday went several rounds deep, and Archer City broke through to the regional semifinals. This season was one of the toughest teams to make, as all three rosters featured numerous athletes that were deserving of a placement, and each superlative could’ve gone to any athlete on the Diamond Dozen team. With so much talent shown this last season and lineups that were littered with gifted upper and underclassmen, next year’s Diamond Dozen will be just as difficult to create.

We all know that when the pilgrims landed at Plymouth, they were seeking religious freedoms, yet the same people who admit this fact will deny the same is true of those who settled Jamestown. They relate that Jamestown was only settle by money-hungry, greedy men, those who were only interested in the wealth to be found here. That was only partially true.
