Trojans blow past Munday, 47-12

Windthorst quarterback Logan Cope had more touchdowns than incompletions as the Trojans overmatched Munday, 47-12. The Trojans (4-3, 3-0) climb above .500 for the first time on the season ahead of next week’s district championship showdown with Archer City. Cope finished 18-of-22 for 348 yards and five scores, averaging better than 19 yards per completion. His top target, Tanner Doyal, reeled in four passes for 109 yards and two scores. Kolby Teakell (75 yards) and Brayden Berend (71 yards) each went over 70 yards with Berend adding a pair of scores. Kasen Wiles caught four balls for 65 yards and a score. Grayson Steinberger scored a touchdown on two grabs for nine yards. Tyler Camacho provided a bruising rushing attack, picking up 94 yards on nine carries and a score while freshman Conner Schreiber picked up another score on the ground.

Belcher wins 9-2A XC Crown

Windthorst’s Cameron Belcher claimed her thirdstraight district championship with a time of 12:22.18 at the District 9-2A Championships on Wednesday, Oct. 12, in Seymour. Belcher topped Nocona’s Bayler Smith by 49 seconds.
