The Archer City Council discussed the intricacies of City Manager’s George Huffman’s joint public works director/city manager role and how to advertise the opening for the position during its meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

One of the most difficult things to write about is the stuff that you personally deal with. I don’t think there will be a topic that hits me deeper than talking about how OCD has affected my life. Many people who think of OCD think of a well-organized person who is just particular about where stuff should go. While this is sometimes the case, for some people OCD is a lot more difficult than that.

The Archer City ISD School Board adopted a proposed budget and tax rate for the next fiscal year during its board meeting on Monday, Aug. 28.

In the Bible, in the Book of Nehemiah, we meet a man who knew exactly what God wanted him to do. Nehemiah was instructed to “Rebuild the Walls” surrounding the city of Jerusalem. He was a man of action. He encouraged, organized, managed and rather than just talk about a problem, he prayed for God’s help to solve the problem.

The apostle Paul was rotting away in prison when he writes to the church at Corinth. Paul’s enemies must have been gloating. They tried everything to silence Paul. You would think that the last thing Paul would be thinking of is others. After all most people would be thinking of how they would mount a defense against the charges leveled against them, and feeling sorry for the persecution they suffered. But, then again, very few people thought like Paul. In II Corinthians 4: 15-18, Paul wrote: “All this is for your benefit, so that the grace reaching me and more people may cause Thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore, we do not lose heart though on the outside we are wasting away; inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles (emphasis on mine) are achieving for eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So, we fix our eyes on not what is seen but unseen, since what is seen is temporary and what is unseen is eternal.”
