County Approves Structure for New Regional Incinerator at the Sheriff's Office

Archer County Sheriff Jack Curd received the go ahead on installing a structure for a regional incinerator during the Archer County Commissioner’s Court meeting on Monday, June 8. The sheriff said his office is set to receive a regional incinerator to destroy evidence from Nortex Regional Planning Commission after Wichita Falls turned down the $30,000 piece of equipment due to it not being UL rated.

HISD Amends Bus Purchase

The Holliday ISD School board elected to only purchase one new school bus in their school board meeting on Monday, June 8. In their May 11 school board meeting, the board approved the purchase of two Route Buses for the 2026-2027 school year, with one bus being traded-in.

Archer City Receives CPI Increase for AMR Ambulance Contract

The Archer City Council received the annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) adjustment for its ambulance service contract with American Medical Response (AMR) during its meeting on Thursday, May 28. AMR representative Digger Hoffman presented the proposed increase, which will raise the annual contract cost by 2.54%, or just over $13,000, bringing the total contract value to more than $526,000 per year.

Holliday High School Claims UIL Academic State Championship

Holliday High School is once again a state champion. Just a few days after their Boys’ State Track meet championship, the Eagles and Lady Eagles that make up the Academic Team won the Class 3A Academic State Championship, beating out second-place Gladewater Sabine by 4.5 points. This marks their seventh academic state title in school history.
