These two were God-fearing, righteous, and lived strictly by the Jewish law. Their Practices were all in honor of God. Zechariah and Elizabeth were getting along in years. Now, for a little context in Zechariah’s time, there were thousands of priests. From birth, every descendant of Aaron was acknowledged as a priest. Zechariah was part of the Abijah division of priests. There were so many priests that they took shifts. About twice a year, they would have a one-week shift.
