Wildcats, Lady Cats get a pair of district wins

The Archer City Wildcats rattled off a pair of district wins this past week, the first one coming in a home game against the Electra Tigers on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and the second in an away game versus the Olney Cubs on Friday, Jan. 3.

The Eagles finished out the tournament with an overtime, nail-biting win over the Jim Ned Indians to improve to 3-1 and grab the fifth-place spot. Berry topped the team with 18 points, while electrifying Luke chipped in 17 points. Berry was named to the All-Tournament team.

Windthorst girls and boys host basketball tournament

The Windthorst Trojans and Trojanettes hosted a plethora of basketball teams from around the area for their basketball tournament from Friday, Dec. 27, to Saturday, Dec. 28. The Trojanettes went 2-2 on the weekend while the Trojans finished with a 3-1 record.

Lady Cats advance on walk-off steal Addi Canada displayed her dominance over the De Leon batters, tallying eight strikeouts and not allowing a single hit through three innings. Archer City’s bats were red-hot to start the game as outfielder Alyssa Schroeder and shortstop Brilee Canada both put the Lady Cats on the board with RBI-singles, with Schroeder later crossing plate herself.

Football fans from around the county were witness to one of the best years all around for the three high schools. The Archer City Wildcats broke in a completely new style on offense, turning their running attack into one of the deadliest in the area, which lead them to an 8-4 overall record and a Bi-District playoff round victory.
Holliday's Hunter Jones headlines this year's ACN All 22 after he posted 3.938 passing yards and 54 touchdowns in his senior year.

Lady Panthers pounce on Lady Cats

The Archer City Lady Cats travelled to Seymour to take on the Lady Panthers in district basketball play on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The Lady Cats struggled on the offensive side all game, leading to a 59-22 loss to Seymour.

Windthorst wraps up Petrolia

The Windthorst Trojans and Trojanettes gave fans an early Christmas gift on Friday, Dec. 20, dismantling the Petrolia Pirates and Lady Pirates in home district basketball action. The Trojanettes dismantled the Lady Pirates 47-31, while the Trojans cruised to a 56-35 win.

Holliday splits with Vernon

Both the Holliday Eagles and Lady Eagles battled the Vernon Lions and Lady Lions in a home district basketball action on Friday, Dec. 20. The Lady Eagles dropped their second district game of the season, falling in a close 53-45 loss to the Lady Lions, while the Eagles cruised to a 54-34 win over the Lions.

Holliday rolls pass Nocona

It was a suffocating defensive showing put on by the Holliday Eagles in their Tuesday, Dec. 17 matchup against the Nocona Indians. After a 6-0 start by Nocona in the beginning of the first, the Eagles took back the lead and never trailed again, securing the 54-29 win.
