Three Eagles sign NLIs

The Trojans closed out their regular season with a 27-point district road thrashing of the Olney Cubs on Friday, Feb. 7.

In a rematch of last year’s Bi-District matchup, the Windthorst Trojanettes, equipped with an almost completely new roster, faced off against the Stamford Lady Bulldogs at Breckenridge High School on Monday, Feb. 10. The 49-35 Trojanettes victory doesn’t reflect the performance of the night, which saw Windthorst control for most of the contest.

The Holliday Lady Eagles had a tall order to fill for their Bi-District playoff round matchup on Monday, Feb. 10 in Mineral Wells, taking on the high-powered Comanche Maidens. The Lady Eagles kept pace with the Maidens for the entire game, but Comanche eventually held on for the 65-57 win.

After clinching a playoff spot just a few days earlier, the Archer City Lady Cats notched their 18th win of the season, defeating the Petrolia Lady Pirates on Senior Night in the last district game of the season Tuesday, Feb. 4.

The Holliday Eagles were in a must-win situation in their final regular season game on Friday, Feb. 7, taking on the City View Mustangs on the road. A win for Holliday all but guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, while a loss would leave their chances up to other teams.

It came down to the wire in the Wildcats’ home district matchup versus Petrolia on Tuesday, Feb. 4, with Archer City climbing back and narrowly scoring the buzzer-beater at the end of fourth.

The Lady Eagles’ defense loomed over the Bowie Lady Rabbits for the entire four quarters in Holliday’s 23-point road district win on Tuesday, Jan 28. The Red and White never allowed Bowie to score more than six points throughout the contest, including a three-point first quarter.

Both the Trojans and the Trojanettes sprang back from losses earlier in the week to notch a pair of victories on Senior Night, Friday, Jan. 31.

The Lady Eagles jumped to an early 8-0 lead after the first quarter thanks to a shutout on the defensive side while senior Braylie Womack and junior Jordan Peters combined for six of the team’s points.
