Holliday pride runs deep in newly named head girls’ basketball coach Kaleb Carver. As a graduate from Holliday in 2015, Coach Carver is extremely familiar with the winning culture of the athletic department, and frankly the entire town.

Archer County softball and baseball players received more All-State nominations over the last few weeks, this time from the Texas Sports Writers Association. These nominations should come as no surprise as all three teams in the county displayed several high-level athletes this season.

The best sports rivalries are the ones that develop naturally and happen over the course of several years. As two teams battle without claiming clear superiority over the other, that competitiveness is only magnified as the years go on.

The Holliday Track and Cross-Country teams have enjoyed mountains of success for the last 20 years, with numerous state gold-medals and top place finishes in both track and cross-country. Countless great Eagles and Lady Eagles have come and gone, but one constant has always remained, and has been around for all the glory, head cross country coach and girls’ track coach Glenn Griffin.

Each year, Nexstar Communications (KFDX TV 3 in Wichita Falls) recognizes the accomplishments of athletes and coaches from high schools in the area along with Midwestern State University and Vernon College.

Hannah Noelle Leverton from Throckmorton, and attends Woodson ISD will be performing in the production of Cinderella at the Backdoor Theater in Wichita Falls, on July 12 and 13, July 18, 19, 20 and July 25 - 27. All productions will be at 7:30 p.m.

The three Archer County baseball teams had to overcome a lot of different obstacles this past season. New coaches made their debut, underclassmen showed out, and seniors made one more push for a state title.

The 23-24 softball season marked another successful year for the three Archer County high schools. Windthorst continued their playoff appearance streak, Holliday went several rounds deep, and Archer City broke through to the regional semifinals. This season was one of the toughest teams to make, as all three rosters featured numerous athletes that were deserving of a placement, and each superlative could’ve gone to any athlete on the Diamond Dozen team. With so much talent shown this last season and lineups that were littered with gifted upper and underclassmen, next year’s Diamond Dozen will be just as difficult to create.
