Holliday outlasts Jim Ned in instant classic Area series

The three-game series between the Holliday Eagles and the Jim Ned Indians was as tight and heart-pounding as they come, with neither team winning by more than two runs over the three-game span. Overcoming bad weather and rain delays both teams played a knockdown, drag out series all the way up until the final inning of the last game.

Lady Cats shutout Lipan 1-0 in Regional Quarter Final

Alyssa Schroeder committed the sole error in Addie Canada’s no hit performance on the first pitch of the contest on Friday, May 10, in Graham. However, redemption for the error came in the bottom of the fourth when she drove a pitch deep into left field to score Canada on a sacrifice fly. Canada tripled to lead off in the bottom of the fourth to set up the winning and only run of the game thanks to Schroeder’s long fly ball.

By Landon Davis The Archer City High School tennis teams competed at the Regional Tennis meet at Richland Tennis Center in North Richland Hills from May 8 to May 9. Although no athletes moved on to state, multiple teams did finish near the top of their respective brackets.

The Holliday Eagles roll on to the area round of playoff baseball after sweeping the Peaster Greyhounds in a double-header on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4. The Eagle’s offense was firing on all cylinders in the series, decimating Peaster by a combined 20-5 over those two games.

The Lady Cats continue to find ways to win in the playoffs. After sending the Lindsay Lady Knights packing in the Bi-District round just four days earlier, the young Archer City squad took home another gold ball with an 8-7 nail-biting victory over the De Leon Lady Cats on Tuesday, April 30.

Holliday falls to #1 Coahoma

to #1 The Holliday Lady Eagles battled a rain delay and the top-ranked Coahoma Bulldogettes at the Hanner Sports Complex for the Area round of 3A softball playoffs on Friday, May 3 in Clyde. The Lady Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but after surrendering a grand slam in the third inning, undefeated Coahoma showed why they were state champs last year, piling on five more runs over the fourth and fifth innings to win comfortably 9-3.
