Cats split games in tourney

The Archer City Wildcats traveled the short drive to Windthorst for their basketball tournament on Thursday Dec. 28 and Friday Dec. 29. After falling to their first two opponents, the Wildcats recuperated and won their final two games, ending the tournament with a 2-2 record. No individual stats were reported from these games.

Whether it was the introduction of new head coach Kyle Atwood at Holliday or Archer City losing three key contributors to Rider or Windthorst breaking in a freshman quarterback, the 2023 season certainly looked a little different.

Trojanettes corral Lady Rams

The Windthorst Trojanettes played host to the Mineral Wells Lady Rams on Tuesday, Dec. 19. After a close first quarter, the Trojanettes took a double-digit lead in the second quarter and never looked back, defeating Mineral Wells 58-45.

New beginnings for Bontrager

The 2023-2024 Archer City Wildcats have a lot of experience playing basketball together. With a starting rotation that features five seniors, a bench that includes another senior and four juniors, this team has been around Wildcat Gymnasium for a long time.

Burk overwhelms Lady Cats

The Archer City Lady Cats journeyed to Burkburnett to take on the 4A Lady Bulldogs. Burkburnett smothered Archer City for the entire game, ending the game in a convincing 62-23 victory.

Bearcats overcome Trojans

The Windthorst Trojans journeyed to the home of the Henrietta Bearcats on Thursday, Dec. 21. After a game that featured multiple technical fouls and several lead changes, the Trojans were unable to make a comeback, falling to the Bearcats 69-61.

Top Ranked Decatur outmatches Trojanettes

The Windthorst Trojanettes traveled to Decatur to take on the top ranked 4A Lady Eagles on Friday, Dec. 15. Despite some late game success, the Lady Eagles were a force to be reckoned with, winning comfortably 72-49.

Windthorst outlasts Quanah

The Windthorst Trojanettes faced off against the Quanah Lady Indians on Saturday, Dec 16. Never relinquishing the lead, the Trojanettes cruised to a 5337 victory.
