County Receives Rural Ambulance Service Grant

In the Archer County Commissioner’s Court meeting Tuesday, May 26, it was announced that Archer County has received a Rural Ambulance Service Grant. County Judge Randy Jackson made the announcement of the $500,00 grant to the court.

Glassburn Recognized, Burnett Sworn in as Mayor

The Lakeside City Council honored outgoing Mayor Cory Glassburn and swore in new Mayor LeeAnn Burnett during its meeting on Tuesday, May 19. Glassburn has served as Mayor of Lakeside City for over a decade and elected to not seek reelection when he sought the Republican nomination for County Judge in the March primaries.

Holliday Council Considers New Police Department Cameras

The Holliday City Council listened to a presentation on the possibility of purchasing new law enforcement body cameras and in-car cameras during its city council meeting on Monday, May 18. The council was presented the new public safety technology by Mark Osborn, retired police officer and current business manager for Coreforce, the potential provider for the new law enforcement equipment and technology.

Archer County 4-H members are continuing to earn statewide and international recognition through the Texas Youth Livestock Ambassador (TYLA) Program, with students advancing through multiple phases focused on agriculture leadership and advocacy.

In the church calendar, we all know about Easter and Christmas. If I asked you what this means to you or to us as the Christian church, you would tell me that Christmas is the birth of Christ and Easter is about the risen Christ. I would refer to you in the Christian Bible. Another significant event in the growth of the Christian movement, some may even say it was the birth of the church, this was Pentecost!

Archer County Memorial Day Services Set

By Nathan Lawson Memorial Day ceremonies honoring fallen service members will be held across Archer County on Monday, May 25, with events planned in Scotland, Windthorst and Archer City. The Scotland -Windthorst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2676 and Auxiliary will host two public ceremonies beginning at 9:30 a.m.
