The Windthorst High School Senior Class of 1968 recently met at the Highlander Public House Restaurant in Wichita Falls for an evening of food and fun on the anniversary of being out of high school for 54 years. Everyone had a good time showing pics of their kids, grandkids, and greatgrandkids, talking about things and adventures still on their bucket lists, and moaning about how much we need a good rain. Hoff Family Reunion

The descendents of Ida Mae and Tony Hoff gathered in Windthorst for a family reunion June 24-26, 2022. Tony was the 10th child of Josephine and Ernst Hoff, the founding family of Windthorst. The reunion was a birthday celebration for Ida Mae and Tony's children: Bert Hoff, Ernestine Hoff, Pavelka Marth and Claude Hoff and a remembrance for Kathleen Hoff Donovan and Charlotte Hoff Jenkins who have passed away. The oldest family member was 87 and the youngest was 4 months. Family came from Missouri, Kansas, California, Montana and of course Texas. Activities included a slide show, dinner, touring the local mechanized dairy and swimming. Special time was set aside to allow Bert, Ernestine and Claude to tell stories from their youth. Isabelle Parkey has had a busy summer of leadership roles in both 4-H and her Junior Brangus Associations. In addition to attending 4-H Congress in Austin, Parkey was accepted into the Livestock Ambassador Program through 4-H.

ACISD discusses preliminary budget, tax rate

The Archer City ISD school board discussed a preliminary budget and a proposed tax rate for fiscal year 2023 during its board meeting Thursday, July 28. “We don’t quite have a rough draft (budget) finalized,” Superintendent CD Knobloch said.

The Archer County News was recently recognized with five awards during the 2020-2021 Texas Press Association’s Texas Better Newspaper Contest at the TPA Conference. Awards were presented at the TPA Convention and Trade Show in San Marcos on Saturday, July 30.

Currently at First Baptist Church in Holliday, I’m preaching a sermon series on the Book of Jude. When Jude warned his listeners to remain faithful, no matter what, this was not just an empty warning. It was a warning which was needed in light of the large number of Christians who were turning their backs on God.
