The Archer City city council continued discussions about the future of the Archer City Emergency Medical Services during its meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

By Nathan Lawson The Archer City ISD school board approved the district’s 2022-2023 budget and tax rate during its board meeting on Monday, Aug. 29.

The Texas Education Agency released the A-F accountability ratings for districts and campuses this month with all three Archer County school districts receiving a grade of an A. The state accountability ratings are based on three areas of performance: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps.

Archer County Tax Assessor Collectoe Office located in the Courthouse Annex will close at noon for lunch and reopen at 1p.m. The Clothes Closet is open every Tuesday 9:30 a.m.

The Chicana artist Consuelo Jimenez Underwood is known for using traditional and Indigenous fiber arts techniques to express her engagement with contemporary issues such as the natural world and the environment, immigration, and Chicana identity. Her body of work is considered essential to the study of Chicanx art history.

A year after the Archer Thrift Store closed its door, a new non-profit, Outpost Connections, has stepped in to fill the void the closing left in the Archer County community. The Archer Thrift Store made the difficult decision to close its door at the end of July of 2021 due to staffing and safety concerns.
