USDA designates 12 Texas Counties as primary natural disaster areas

This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation or the refinance of certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability.

Windthorst HS senior class earns TxDOT grant

Body
The Windthorst High School senior class was awarded a grant to fund their upcoming Project Graduation from the Texas Department of Transportation for their production of an anti-drinking and driving public service announcement. Their video won first place in the area contest, and they earned $2,000 for their hard work. Out of the 300 possible points, the seniors scored 270, beating all competitors from nine surrounding counties.

WVFD recognizes firefighters

The Windthorst VFD concluded their 2021 recognition at their annual department awards/meal gathering this past week. They recognized the following recipients: Roy Koetter for 45 years’ service, Raymond Ostermann for 40 years, Chad Steinberger for 30 years (not pictured), Tim Hertel for 25 years, Kyle Schroeder for 15 years, Dallas Fillingim for 15 years (not pictured) and Reid Wolf for 10 years. Gage Steinberger was named the 2021 fireman of the year.
