Holliday UIL finishes third

The Holliday ISD UIL Academic Team placed third in the 3A state meet competition. The Holliday team finished third with 88 points behind Gladewater Sabine who finished with 134.33 points and Mission Collegiate who finished with 108.5 points.

Archer City Pool Splash Day

The Archer City Pool will open for the summer on Saturday, May 25, from 1 to 6 p.m. Splash day will take place that day and admission will be free to the public.

Windthorst City Council holds meeting about U.S. 281

On Wednesday, May 15, the Windthorst City Council held a special meeting for citizens to voice their concerns and ask questions to a Texas Department of Transportation employee on how the agency plans to make Highway 281 safer in general.

Kellar named new County Auditor

Cristi Kellar was sworn in as the new Archer County Auditor by 97th District Court Judge Trish Coleman Byars on Wednesday, May 1. Kellar replaces outgoing county auditor Paul Wylie who retired from the position at the end of April.

HISD purchase s new phone/ PA systems

The Holliday ISD school board approved a bid for a new voice over IP phone system and PA system for all school buildings during their meeting on Monday, May 13. Superintendent Cody Carroll said the need for both systems stem from Alyssa’s law which requires phones in each classroom, so everyone has the ability to call 911 if needed.

County approves new phone system for sheriff's office

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved the purchase of a new telephone system for the sheriff's office during its meeting on Monday, May 13. Sheriff Jack Curd told the court that the current telephone system was moved over to the office when the new law enforcement was built 13 years ago.

Antelope Cemetery Association Decoration Day

The Antelope Cemetery Association will observe its annual Decoration Day on Saturday, May 18, at the Antelope Cemetery, located at 10792 FM 175. There will be a business meeting and memorial service at 11 a.m.
