All three high school volleyball teams from around the county competed in the Lu Allen Volleyball Tournament in Graham over the weekend. Both the Windthorst Trojanettes and the Holliday Lady Eagles tore through pool play on Friday, Aug. 23, going 4-0 on the day, while the Archer City Lady Cats finished with a 1-3 record.

The Archer City Lady Cats improved to a 6-2 record after they took down the Wichita Christian Lady Stars in the Lady Cat’s first away game of the season (outside of tournaments). The Lady Cats notched their six wins of the year after a 3-1 victory over the private school on Tuesday night, Aug. 20.

The Windthorst Trojanettes didn’t drop a single set in their dual volleyball matches against the Vernon Lady Lions and the Burkburnett Lady Bulldogs, winning 3-0 against the higher classed opponents.

A first set loss is all it took for Holliday to snap back into their usual volleyball dominance, defeating the Nocona Lady Indians 3-1 in the Lady Indian’s own home on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

The Windthorst Trojanettes and the Archer City Lady Cats travelled north to compete in the Cool in Boomtown volleyball tournament in Burkburnett on Friday, Aug. 16 and Saturday, Aug.

Archer City volleyball is in full swing as the Lady Cats took on the Quanah Lady Indians and the Newcastle Ladycats in double- header action on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
