The Archer City Lady Cats travelled to Nocona to take on 2A sixth-ranked Lady Indians on Friday, Jan. 26. The fifth place Lady Cats looked to keep playoff hopes alive as they sat just one game behind the fourth place Petrolia Lady Pirates. The get-right game would not come on Friday, however, as the top ranked Lady Indians defeated Archer City 89-21.

One of two holdovers from last season’s state championship winning squad, Holliday senior Kenna Wood has left a lasting impression on the Lady Eagles’ basketball program that will be felt for years to come.

The Archer City Wildcats welcomed the Windthorst Trojans in their first matchup in district play on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Both teams sat at 1-2 and looked to hit the .500 mark nearing the halfway point in the district. The two rival teams did not disappoint, with a gripping contest that saw the Trojans narrowly survive the Wildcats 59-52.

The Windthorst Trojanettes looked to stay in second place in district as they bussed down to Olney High School to take on the Lady Cubs on Friday, Jan. 26. The Trojanettes dictated the pace and scoring of the game, coming out with a decisive 70-14 victory.

New week, same story. 10th-ranked Holliday (23-2) dismantled Vernon (62-35) and Bowie (58-43) to take a two-game lead on the rest of District 7-3A and extending the winning streak to 23 straight.

The Archer City Lady Cats traveled to Petrolia to take on the Lady Pirates in district action on Friday, Jan. 19. The thrilling matchup came down to the wire, with Petrolia narrowly beating Archer City 35-33.

As easy as Holliday made the first four games of district play look – winning by an average of 20 points en-route to a 4-2 start – the last four contests have the Lady Eagles looking mortal and far from the favorites in the District 7-3A race.

The Archer City Lady Cats hosted the Seymour Lady Panthers for their fourth district game of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Despite pacing the Lady Panthers in the first half, the Lady Cats struggled to find success on offense in the second half, losing 69-30 and falling to 1-3 in district.
