Trojanettes For the first time in four years, the Trojanettes will be without star distance runner Cameron Belcher. The now University of Houston runner, along with state hurdlers Saige Anderson and Annikah Frank, along with legs in the regional qualifying 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 relay teams will need to be replaced.

It can be hard for a team to not become complacent, and after the success of the Holliday softball program in the last five years, head coach Billy Arbogast believes “the standard is the standard.”

Holliday senior Michael Stewart has been a varsity baseball player since his freshman year, and still has seen his improvement and his stock rise as he heads into his final year as an Eagle. “I’ve been playing baseball since I was three,” Stewart said.

It is a tough task taking the helm of a varsity baseball team halfway through the season, but head coach Jason Kress was able to perform adequately, leading the Eagles to another district title and a pair of playoff wins. This year, Kress looks to build and add his own coaching style to continue the long baseball tradition that Holliday is known for.

Lady Cats Thanks to a healthy mix of returning upperclassmen and underclassmen making their varsity debut, thirdyear head coach Tyler Owen and his Lady Cats reached 18 wins and even earned their first playoff appearance, both firsts under Coach Owen. Senior guard Adelyn Harvey received firstteam All-District honors, while freshman guard Millie Mayo earned the Newcomer of the Year award.

According to Archer City High School Athletic Director Bradan Ritchey, the Archer City Tennis program had one of the biggest turnouts in recent years, and head tennis coach Haley Owen is excited about the buzz around the sport.

Coming off an injury is difficult for any athlete to overcome, especially one as damaging as a torn ACL. But Lady Cat senior Adelyn Harvey is determined to bounce back better than ever.

The Archer City Lady Cats reached the Regional Semifinals after starting just two seniors, one junior, two sophomores, and four freshman last season. That influx of youth will be vital to the team’s success again as they attempt to go even further this season.
