For the first time since 2006, the Windthorst Trojans earned a district championship in basketball on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Big Blue won the title outright after the Seymour Panthers defeated the Nocona Indians on the same night, handing Nocona a third loss in district.

The Archer City Wildcats recorded their first district win on Tuesday, Feb. 10, defeating Petrolia on their own court and on the Pirates’ Senior Night.

Just four days after their unexpected win over the Windthorst Trojanettes, the Archer City Lady Cats’ playoff hopes were dashed as they fell to the Petrolia Lady Pirates on the road on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

My name is Kristi Malone, and I’ve been married for 36 years to James (Junior) Malone. I have lived in Archer County most of my life, and it is where my husband and I raised our two children. We have since received our greatest title of Lovie and Pappy to our two amazing grandchildren. I’m a graduate of Archer City High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Archer City.

My name is Kyle Morris. I’ve lived in Lakeside City for 8 years this coming April. This is my 5th year as a teacher, and my second year teaching at the high school here in Holliday. My wife, Jessica, works for Region 9 in Head Start. We have 2 boys James and Rylan. James graduated from Holliday this last school year and is currently at Midwestern State University, while Rylan is a freshman at Holliday.

The old red brick building that stood on South Ash Street in Archer City for eighty-nine years is gone, but the memories of those who attended school there haven’t faded. Local author Jim Black (Class of 1971) has gathered together some of those memories in his latest book titled Through These Halls.
