An early morning raid last Tuesday in Archer City resulted in the arrest of Cassandra Mercedes Thomas and the seizure of a controlled substance field tested as methamphetamine. The arrest and seizure were a result of an investigation by the Archer City Police Department.

UIL releases realigned districts

The biennial University Interscholastic League reclassification and realignment for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years was released Thursday, Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. CST. The new alignments, established by enrollment figures submitted to the UIL by its member schools in October, will serve as the football districts for the next two school years.

Six county students catch calves, earn purchase certificate at FWSSR

Gage Talley, Brody Frazier, Kensley Vieth, Zoie Price, Isabelle Parkey, Clay Miller who are members of Archer County 4-H, Windthorst FFA, Holliday FFA and Archer City FFA caught a calf during the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s Calf Scramble, earning a $500 purchase certificate for a show heifer and the chance for up to $16,000 in scholarship awards.
