The Archer County Commissioner’s Court discussed compliance issues with Trinity Wind Farm over its road use agreement with them during its meeting Monday, June 14. Precinct 2 Commissioner Darin Wolf led the discussion about the agreement made with the wind farm on maintaining Andrews Road.

After a tremendous year on baseball and softball diamond for all three Archer County schools, I felt these athletes deserved a little extra recognition. With that said, I’m debuting the Archer County News Diamond Dozen. Every one of these athletes and their teammates deserve much more recognition and praise than I can give them. We had a great season with all three schools making the playoffs in both baseball and softball and I can’t wait to see what next year brings. Without further ado, here’s the Archer County News ‘Diamond Dozen’ softball team. The baseball ‘Diamond Dozen’ squad releases in the June 17 edition.

Archer City clinched a berth in the state 7-on-7 tournament set for June 24-25 at Veteran’s Park in College Station. The Wildcats qualified for the state meet by defeating Albany, 20-14, in the championship game on Saturday, June 5, in Archer City.

St. Mary's Church in Windthorst celebrated it's 129th birthday with a celebration on the weekend on Sunday, June 6. The event included the 41st annual Dairy Derby, a horseshoe tournament, a kickball tournament, a cornhole tournament, a golf tournament, a live auction and raffle, as well as food and game booths. The 41st annual Dairy Derby 5k, Health Walk and Fun Run Children’s Races were held Sunday, June 6, at the Windthorst ISD football field and track with Coltyn Hale winning the 5k with a time of 20:45.
