Archer County Judge Randy Jackson reported Monday, Jan. 11, that the county will remain included in the GA- 29 mandate including a facial coverings which was issued by Governor Greg Abbott due to large positive COVID-19 case numbers in the county and update vaccine distribution.

Grant powers Archer City to win over Windthorst

Windthorst had no answer for Archer City’s post play as the Wildcats knocked off their district rival, 55-21, on Tuesday, Jan. 5, in Windthorst.

The Lady Cats improve to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in District 9-2A play while the Trojanettes fall to 9-6 and 1-1.

Bailey Grant led the Lady Cats with a double-double, tallying her second-straight performance with at least 20 points. The junior forward logged 22 points and 11 rebounds to power Archer City to the win.

Lady Cats start district play strong After returning from Christmas break, the Archer City Lady Cats picked up a pair of wins over Christ Academy and Quanah on Dec. 28 and 31 to improve to 10-3 on the season.

Farm Bureau donations

Top: Joann Hoff, Mary Baumer, Laura Hoff and Margaret Beaman (not pictured) of the Family Life & Mission of Windthorst receive ground beef from Archer County Farm Bureau to distribute to qualified families. “This gift was gratefully appreciated by all of our organization,” Baumer said about the gift in July. “It means another month of protein, which at times can be hard to come by.” The organization also received an end-of-year donation from ACFB.
