Archer County COVID-19 cases still rising at high rate

Archer County Judge Randy Jackson reported on Monday, Dec. 28, that the county has seen 100 case increase in total COVID-19 cases in a two-week time period and the county will remain unexempt from GA-29 including a facial covering mandate which was issued by Governor Greg Abbott.

We are aware that there was a printing problem in this week's special full-color, six-page section honoring the State Champion Windthorst Trojans. Two pages were printed with a pronounced pink tint. We are not sure how many of your newspapers look this way, but we know the issue has impacted several of them.

If you are a Windthorst Trojan, I am sure you are disappointed. If you paid money for an advertisement, I'm sure you are disappointed. We, too, are disappointed. Our staff worked hard to get this to you on a quick turnaround, and we are sad to see pink where blue should be.

Trojans take home third football state championship in school history

As the old saying goes, ‘To be the best, you have to beat the best,’ and as Ethan Belcher trotted into high school football immortality on a two-point conversion with 26-seconds remaining, Windthorst did just that. The Trojans ended Mart’s quest for a four-peat in a 22-21 classic on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Tackett claims first state title as head coach

Windthorst head coach Chris Tackett has been coaching on the Trojans staff for longer than his players have been alive, inluding the 2003 state championship. However, last Wednesday night was Tackett’s first as head coach.
